Consumed Design Intro

I came up with this concept while touring and driving through the desert to different cities. It’s so desolate and barren. I had the image of a skull in the sand with a cacti growing through it. An image of how nature takes back or adapts and grows around or through the things we create. It adjusts to the things we keep throwing at it. It’s an ode to the sadness of death but That there’s always hope no matter the circumstance. The cycle of life.

 It’s an introspective take on how our society seems to be living with the notion that we can keep consuming resources and that we are the arbiters of this planet. We think and act like this world is infinite without regard to for the impact we are having on others and our only home. Nature has the last say and adapts to the carnage we create. Ultimately she will take it back and consume us and our institutions in return.

It’s an ode to the cycle of life and no matter how bad things get, progress can still be found. We act like our wants and needs are the most important things in this world while the waste we create from our daily lives isn’t a big deal as long as it’s out of sight, out of mind. Be mindful. We are all only here for now, Let’s make our short time here awesome not only for ourselves but for others and most importantly our environment. It’s the only one we have and the impact we have on our immediate environment affects others all over the world.
