“We are blind. We are mislead. We are blind to the current that pulls us away.”

Who knew that thirteen years later this lyric written by one of my closest friends, would be so relevant and convey perfectly one of the messages I’m trying to spread. I was so interested in where his head was at while writing this song and also wanted to give him the opportunity to explain it in his own words rather than me write about how I interpret it. So here’s what he had to say about it.

In the words of Andrew himself.

“ I wrote this lyric in 2007. While the political & socio-economic climate was certainly different back then, the theme of inaction towards our own destruction is even more relevant today than it was 13 years ago.
Even back before smartphones and auto-correct, I chose my words carefully because whether it be intentional or by accident, many of us are "blind" to the behaviors, lifestyles, and mentalities that damage our society, our environment, and ourselves.
The message of the song, for me, is a wakeup call to fight the currents – the doubt, the insecurity, the fear – that hold us back from making meaningful progress.”

Whatever we want to create, we will.

Deciduous became a reality born from the mind of its founder, Brent Caltagirone. In collaboration with local artists and purveyors, Deciduous creates products and handmade goods that are not only made well, but made with intention. The intention is integrity. The intention is to do unto others as you will have them do unto you. It’s to create things with the same care and attention to detail that we would want others to take when creating things for us. It’s creating a product that was made by someone who is passionate about the craft of making it, just as much as they are passionate about the product itself. The intention is to create things that we would want to use ourselves. Through this process, we want to create good products, as well as inspire others to follow their dreams and pursue their own goals. Sometimes all you need to be happy is to be awake and conscious in this life, and to live it to the fullest while keeping the wellbeing of others in mind. Get what you want out of life and do what you love but help others along the way. DO THE RIGHT THINGS FOR THE RIGHT REASONS.

When it comes down to it, we are all here together, we are all sharing the same existence… we are all just kind of here for right now, and none of us really know why. So let’s enjoy this once in a lifetime existence, together, and make some cool shit along the way.
